Arklow South Leinster League Round 5 U-16

#1 Post by trout hunter jnr »

People:8 lads

Duration:Check in 4.30 to 5 Fishing 6 to 10

Tide:Rising at 8 or that

Weather:Lovely but with a bit of wind the odd time

Bait:Lug, Mack, Sandeel

Rigs:Various

Results:For meself 5 doggies 3 Whiting (2 Undersize 1 25cm.) 5 Flats

Report:After a few weeks off the site because of river fishing gaeltacht GAA etc etc the GAA season is coming to an end but the good stuff isnt over yet a great days fishing yesterday! Arrived nice and early and got peg no. 3...Keep that in mind  Set up and 1st cast got a dab. Fish kept coming steadily for the rest of the night....the odd bare cast but my hopes were always alive with a doubler after an hour or so. The flats stayed around for an hour or that but then the odd dog started to pop up. The odd Whiting were being caught around the place too. After getting my second doggie I heard reports that 1 lad was edging it with 300 points +. Time being 9.40 a near-miracle was needed for this cast. After it being in the water for a mere 3 minutes I reeled in a heavy line....weed? hardly.....caught in some ones line? doesnt look like it....twas all reassured when i saw 6 little red eyes looking up at me....a triple wameey!!!! That made the night with me snatching the lead by a single point and the man who had been front runner for around an hour at that stage even got a doggie at 9.50 to make it oh so tight. I now stand 3rd on the leader board and the next competition being on the 23rd of October.
Fisherman's prayer:
God grant that I may live to fish, For another rainy day.
But when my final cast is made, I then most humbly pray.
When nestled in your landing net, As I lay peacefully asleep.
You'll smile at me and judge, That I'm "good enough to keep"!
