Cork, 8th Sept

#1 Post by syboit »

People: Myself and a buddy

Duration: 2 hours

Tide: HW going out

Weather: Clear

Bait: Mackerel

Rigs: float & 2 hook pennel

Results: 1 Starfish and 1 Crab

Report:

Decided to try some different parts of the habour last night, so we put out 2 rods one for ground and one on a float. Reckon the crabs were only laughing at us, constantly pulling up hooks with the bait stripped off them. Results for the night 1 starfish (new species!) and a crab.

I can only think of 2 timber piers in the harbour and i'd steer clear of both of them. I'm guessing it was one of the 2 you were fishing on.

I was wondering if some-one would notice allright :) Monkstown is where we were, first time there. Not sure if I'd go back again, extremely strong currents dragging the weights way out if you let it. Any particualar reason other than "no fish" there to avoid them ?

i can think of 3 wooden piers
a lot of people reckon that monkstown is best fished during the day BUT if you are to fish it at night then the pier is best. never caught much on the pier myself tho. head back up a little bit towards passage to the railings and try there during daylight with crab, lug and maybe squid, you can park up across the road too so its a very handy spot.

Three popped into mind alright but aghada is off limits for the last few months as the pier was falling apart so it's fenced off now.
