donegal bay an duana mara

#1 Post by grady »

People:me skipper brian, and other 8 lads

Duration:9.30am-4.00pm

Tide:rising

Weather:dry strong southern wind

Baitmackerel

Rigs:feathers, mickeyfish ling/cod rigs,lures

Results:pollack up to 11lb, 4ling for me up to 6lb, mackerel, ballan coocko wrasse, pouting

Report:lads from work found out that im doing boat fishing in ocean so i was asked to organise a trip, none of them were on board before so like to try it i reng to brian mcgilleway in killibegs an booked the boat
hit the road at 7am it took as 2hours to rich killibegs harbour
left pier at 9'30am first stop was to get some mackerel for bait as lads thought that what we after they seems very enjoyed fishing as macs come full houses they found it good
well enough that we have to leave macs alone and move to rough grounds where pollack and ling can be cought i said
so started in first pollack mark and land some wee pollacks
i was using lures for the first start but no joy as water was still low
lads on feathers picked some macs and few pollacs
before the midday i opened first micks rig bag was expecting to catch some ling brian droped as to the ling mark
i land my first ling of the day just in 10min time it wasnt big but its that what im after
and lads start to land bigger pollaks on fethers as lures fishing was seems to hard for them well cant blame them they first time fishing
brian thought to ankor a boat and try for big ling but boys didnt whant to do that becouse they thought that would be boring so kept drifting i still managed to land 4 lings and ballan/coocko wrasse on micks rigs and few nice pollaks on black jellyworms so i thing these rigs were worked good enough as strong wind blow as to fast
sorry lads i'vnt done any pictures left me camera at home
