mayo beach session

#1 Post by Determined Dan »

People: me , noel , john.

Duration: a good while.

Tide:mostly falling

Weather:warm, dry

Bait:sand eel lug, rag, mack

Rigs:pulleys and 2 hook flappers

Results:flounder . turbot . dog fish . bass .
met the lads on the beach as planed and started to rig up . all hoping that the blank was not going to happen. first cast we all landed flounder so smiles all round. :) . blank saved and that's the way it went for most of the day . i was looking for turbot and noel said this could be my lucky day and he was not wrong. so with the crack flying and the flounder and turbot blitzing the baits we were kept busy. i never saw so many flats been landed before . and most of them good sizes. as we were chatting i spotted my rod take a good nod and then another?.?. so reeled up and on a wave a fine flounder came a shore. 31cm. my PB. :) then a fine flounder was landed by john . i think the same size. so with the picture taken . it was back to fishing. we all were quietly hoping for a mayo bass and with the bright sun shine i was not thinking they were going to be around. as we were chatting again my rod tuck a good knock and with a short run i reeled up and the rod was shaking noel made his way to the water and said any idea what it is, i said not sure its fighting back. and then he said fine flounder with a smaller one on too. a brace of flounder , :D and this one was measured at 34 cm my new PB. :D . noel then landed 3 flounder at once and john with 2 at once. so were the bass out there?. well we were all watching the rods and noel went quite :?: :?: and then up the beach he pulled his first bass. congrats. and pics taken and back he went to fight again. the flounder and turbot was still been caught and the rods were been watched even closer since a bass was landed. and noel did it again another bass . as we said its like waiting for a bus there is none for ages and then 2 come along. . so with noel delighted and me and john determined to catch a bass we waited and then the tide turned. and the night came in fast and the dogs came out to play and the bass were snatching baits. with all of us missing bits and i said to the lads i missed a massive strike noel lifted into a massive run and he says back i didn't miss that one , and the rod top showed every move i headed out to the water to help i said BASS big BASS. and he landed a magic bass of 4lb 12 oz. well done noel . so pics taken weight taken and back he went . with the bait running out we had to pack up bu we will be back and next time its mine and johns turn. so look out bass. :P . so the final count was: john: 11flounder,1 turbot 3 dog fish .and 12 corkwing rass from another mark earlier in the day: noel :19 flounder one turbot 4 dog fish and 3 bass. well done again noel. and: my self :15 flounder 3 turbot and 4 dog fish. thanks for a great night out lads brill result. roll one the next session. lads add in any thing Ive forgotten+ pics if you like.

Well done everyone, great report, fishing and results. Congratulations Noel on finally catching your Bass!!! :D :D :D I am really pleased for you, it's just brilliant news. Now I can finally open that bottle of champagne that I have had sitting in the fridge and celebrate the fact that your bass cherry is popped.
