O,Reilly Harbour

#1 Post by clownfish »

People:Myself and greg

Duration:9pm til 1am

Tide:dropping

Weather:clear sky,with a mild breeze

Bait:frozen variety

Rigs:all sorts

Results:Doggies,small thornie and bull huss

Report:Headed out for a few casts with Greg because he was bored at home and so was i.We wanted some easy fishing without having to pack loads of gear and decided on the Harbour.Because we knew we d get some depth to the water and maybe a surprise or two.Set up 1 rod each and at dusk and before long greg landed a small Thornie and a few dogs and me nothing and this continued most of the night.Got some nice knocks and plenty of clean hooks, but couldnt hook a fish to save my life.So was setting up my final rig for my last cast when my rod almost disappeared off the tripod .Grabbed the rod and thought a big doggie at best,With Greg also encouraging my excitement that it was only a doggie too  As the fish began to surface ,she made a huge account of herself by crashing and thrashing about for at least 5mins,Thought Conger at 1st,Then maybe small tope,But then realised it was one of my old friends Bull huss, She twisted till she unhooked herself only to my dismay to hook herself again through the Dorsil fin  There was no way of pulling the fish up the wall so had to walk her back towards the nearest steps backwards about 100 yards  Great fun to watch im sure but not to execute. Finally got the fish on land ,Only for her to regurgitate a whole Octopuss some whole pin whiting and plenty of fluids all over my runners :o Weighing in at just under 11 pounds and happily released to fight another day.A great fish to catch  Had a few more casts with a few more dogs and packed up to listen to Greg all the way home calling me a jammy b*****d
