West Waterford 1st Bass EVER!

oops. I posted this in the mack reports but just realised I should probably have posted it here.

I'm still chuffed as I have never:
a) been out night fishing
b) caught a bass in my life (never even dreamed I could!)

Still a ZILCH on macks but caught two lovely Bass on sidewinders at 5.30 am Sunday morning last. Thought I'd boo boo'd after zero on german sprats after an hour. First ray of light on the horizon and I switched to the sidewinder on the Spit in Dungarvan. First cast BANG! 48cm Bass. 2nd cast BANG again 52 cm. Both around 1.5 kg. Nothing after that - but I didn't need anything else to make my summer.

Wonderful way to spend a Sunday - and the day was only starting

Thanks Guys - I'm still grinning. did a jig in the dark (well 2 actually!) after I finally accepted I hadn't landed a mullet! So much more fun than macks!

A HUGE thanks everyone! Believe it or not I still grin to myself when I think about it. I'm constantly checking tides, weather, etc... to see when I can get a chance to go out again.

I had NO idea what I was doing when I went out but just had a 'gut' felling about what to do - so -- gut will do until I learn more.

So don't be afraid if any of you bump into a guy who looks lost at 5am around the spit It's just a harmless newbie hoping for a shot at a beautiful fish.
