Pilk Rod

Simple question.

What exactly is a pilk rod meant to be used for?
Species List 2012 (Me) - Lesser Spotted Dogfish, Plaice, Codling, pollack, dab, SS Scorpion Fish, Ballan Wrasse, Codling.

Species List 2012 (Daniel) - Not got started yet :-(

Its a rod for catching pilks!!

Seriously though, saw this somewhere myself, and assumed it was a typo for pike??

Could be wrong though!
2011 species (2) - Three Bearded Rockling, Coalfish

2010 species (8) - Coalfish, Codling, Shore Rockling, Pollack, Lesser Spotted Dogfish, Poor Cod, Whiting, Pouting

2009 species (10) - Lesser Spotted Dogfish, Pouting, Coalfish, Long Spined Sea Scorpion, Shore Rockling, Codling, Haddock, Shanny, Whiting, Flounder

'pilk' is german for 'pirk' lads, hope this clears up the confusion :)

So,it's a rod for fishing pirks from a boat?
