clifden area co galway 28th aug 2010

#1 Post by gfkelly1969 »

People:myself,brother in law and nephew

Duration:15:00 to 22:00

Tide:low 13:42 1.0m high 20:00 4.8m

Weather:dry and a cold wind from the west

Bait:mackerel,lug,white rag,sand eel

Rigs:various

Results:1 flounder,2 pollack,2 poor cod,1 rockling

Report:the brother in law rang to see had I a safe mark to fish as he wanted to bring the son fishing for the first time so I said I would take them to my ray mark, before they arrived i headed for a beach I was told about that had good lug and white rag,got plenty of both in a short length of time, thanks for telling me about the beach mark you were right about it
we fished my ray mark for 3 hrs and not a bite, they called it a day and I headed for a beach for awhile,no bites there as well so i hit a pier and tried for a few mackerel but none about
i set up the rods with a bit of bait it was very quite until I landed this lad
poor cod.JPG
he was small but he saved the blank
next fish was a flounder on the white rag
flounder.JPG
then near dark I set up a conger trace in near the pier and got a fine fat rockling on it,
rockling.JPG
a 3 bearded one I think

I put a sand eel on a feather and had a few cast and got 2 pollack, had a great scrap from this lad

also got another poor cod before i called it a day
