We have mullet too, in Co. Wicklow
I finally decided to take the hint from Kerry 1 and go mullet fishing in a local estuary. Fishing for a couple of hours on consecutive days a friend and I landed three fish. The full report is on my website, http://www.anirishanglersworld.com. They sure are great craic, the hardest fighting fish pound for pound that swim in Irish waters for sure.

Well done Ashely, you done well to get a fish out of there. I had a go last year in that same spot and failed never even seen a mullet.
What state of the tide were you fishing? it's hard to get it right because it's so far up the river and I think that's what happened to me at least that's my excuse.

Great report and pictures Ashley. Well done on your mullet, cracking fish indeed. That estuary looks like a challenging but at the same time a fun place to fish for them. Nice one
I'm glad you finally took the hint

Re: We have mullet too, in Co. Wicklow
Hi,
The hat was purchased in America and I was given a lead on how to fish the mark by a fly fisherman who has tied a pattern based on the green sea weed in the area. He uses the fly here with great success.
On the two sessions at the mark I got one fish over the top of the tide and the other on the early ebb.

Nice one mitch, well done. Now you know why I find mullet fishing so addictive and why I love it so much. Mullet are very under estimated when it comes to people's attitude's about fishing for them which is a shame because if more people just tried it they would never look back. The fight they give you is amazing when you hook into one, catching your first mullet is an fun experience and is something that you don't forget in a hurry, congrats to you.
