Near portstewart.

#1 Post by billy the fish »

People:Me and doggy dave

Duration:4hours

Tide:low but rising

Weather:Fine, slight wind

Bait:squid, mushy rag, sandeel, and mackrel

Rigs:2 hook flappers/ single hook rigs

Results: 2 Pollack, loads of bites, loads of lost tackle.

Report:We fished a rock mark just past portstewart, towards portrush. Bit of a climb down the the rocks for an old bugger like me, but worth it. The session started with doggy dave getting bites on bottom, but snagging when striking.. frustrating. We both got bites, but again lost tackle. I changed to float, which swiftly headed for a weedy snaggy area, but prooved productive. I caught a descent pollack [pan sized]. Had more bites on float, but snagged too often. I caught another smaller pollack of bottom. All in all a good days sport, loads of bites and a couple of fish.

Yep mate, but costly. I must learn to go for cheaper rig options on dirty ground [home made].
But its rewarding when you find a rock mark take a gamble and catch fish. :)
