local beach

People:myself and plumster

Duration:8 till 02.30

Tide:falling then low

Weather:nice

Bait:mack, sandeel, crab, squid, razor and rag

Rigs:2 and 3 hook flappers

Results:bass, flounder and a coalfish

Report:myself and plumster tryed another new spot last night, i had fished it once before in the winter and only managed a flounder. we started fishing about eight, i fished one rod out for bass and one three hook flapper in close for flats, first cast i had a double shot of flounder in close and darren had a flounder too the next cast i lobbed it out about twenty yards, after about ten mins i tought i seen a flounder bite on the near rod so i lifted it and started to reel in, felt a couple of kicks and looked down to see a bass beached, weighed 4lb 11oz, he took a little bit of rag on a size 2 hook in less than a foot of water! had another one a bit smaller about a hour later, with both of us getting flounder on nearly every cast on different baits, just befor low tide i got a nice little rattle and reeled in a cloaley, dont get many of them from the beachs up here. darren tryed a lump of mack on the top hook then and soon enough hooked into the best fish of the night which put up a good fight jumping out of the water several times, sea trout i tought but then he beached a fine bass which weighed in at 8lb 8oz tho it looked a bit bigger. never seen one on mack before. he had a couple more strong bites shortly after but things went quite for a couple of hours around low tide with only an odd flounder coming in so we decided to call it a night then.
