Report:
Well having been working away for the last couple of weeks it was definitely time to get out for a cast. I was thinking of heading west but decided to give the east coast a go, hearing of all the reports of Bass. Picked up some bait yesterday in Henrys and hit the road this morning at 08:00. Arrived at the mark at 09:00 and not another person in sight for miles. Set up both rods inc the new TTLD and put one out at distance and the other in near for flats. An hour passed and not even a bite. I was thinking of the dreaded blank as the last time I fished this mark that is exactly what I got. Right! rods in again and out with some huge rag baits. Then 20min later the TTLD started to bend and did not stop – Game on… a voice in my head saying keep cool, give line, don’t loose it, it could be a Bass (1st of the Year!)… After a good scrap and having taken plenty of line, I managed to get it into the surf. A fine Starry Smooth hound. Out of the surf and back to the gear for a few snaps, the only problem being that my arm is not long enough to get me and the fish in, then released! ( note to self, sort out a bracket on the tripod for the camera)
