Hi folks
first post here.
I've been doing a bit of swff over the last year or so, first bass caught from beach outside cork harbour last year, caught a load of pollock around west cork - great craic ut looking to do a bit of fishing closer to the city. I usually use sandeel type flies for bass (bear in mind I've only caught 1 ever). Would these be the best to use inside cork harbour - i.e. would sandeels be the main foodsource for bass within the harbour.

Hi Steve,
Seems to be my first post here too, I used to post here a bit but lost/forgot my login details and had to re sign up.
To answer your question i always thought the bass around Cork harbour where after either sprats,worms/crab and other small fish. Im not sure about sandeels or sandeel patterns for the harbour, pm JimHendrick here or on flyforums as he has caught quite a few Bass around Cork harbour and would know how succesful sandeel paterns are.
I would think a general sprat immitation wouldnt be far wrong in the harbour.

Cheers Stylie
just got a load of tying materials from the states and sitting down now to tie a few things up. Would a sprat imitation be silvery or more sandeel coloured?

Silver Steve, very silvery, I think JimH has some pics on his website
Was in Waterford yesterday for my first Bass session of the year, a little late but I unexpectedly had to go to Sydney on the 14th of June for two months, any who the fishing was surprisingly bad, saw no bass and only one shoal of mackeral......very dissappointing
