digging for worms in galway?

hi,can anyone tell me the proper way to collect worms from beaches,ive read about digging a trench around the holes but not sure what time to tackle them, is it when tide is going out or in.what is the best tools to use ,and where is a good spot on the east of galway cheers for info.

The best thing to use is a broad tinned fork. I would normally dig a trench thats about 3 forkfuls wide. You can dig anywhere you see casts, and as long as the casts are exposed, its a good time to dig.

Cant help you about digging spots on the east, but grattan beach in salthill is a popular enough place to dig.

hi smiliejp, i went digging yesterday for the first time in co louth and used the following link for guidence. It worked very well just as the tide turns and the water starts to come back in. Collected lots of worms in no time. Hope this helps.

ok lads thanks for the info the video is very good alright,i might try the beach in gratton next time
