North Wexford

#1 Post by Al »

People:myself, M.B3, Kstaff and Keith

Duration:20.30-12.30

Tide:???

Weather:Bucketing down
Bait: sandeel, crab, mackerel

Rigs:Loop rigs

Results:Thornies, Doggies and whiting

I called up to Mark yesterday to see if he was up for an impromtu session, after a quick call to Kstaff we decided to meet himself and Keith at a North Wexford beach much to Kstaff's dissapointment as he had planned to be in bed by 10'Oclock. Things were looking bad as we all blanked on our first cast..but at least the weather was nice,Things picked up after that and the dogs started to bite and then the nice weather turned to torrential rain. With nothing coming to the crab baits (Smoothies :) ) I decided that I would try for Ray and whipped a sandeel on the bottom hook but Kept crab on the top to hedge my bets, It seemed to Work as I then brought in a small Ray and a Dog, The Next cast produced another thornie of better quality and was prob about 2 1/2 lbs. Not a monster but great to see from the East Coast  We stayed on for another 2 hours in the hope another might appear but it was not too be but we were all kept busy with dogs and at this stage the rain had been torrential for hours. There was a break in the rain for about 20 mins and we took advantage of this to have a chat and a smoke before heading off.

No hounds

Nice to get east coast ray though, well done for braving the elements.

Hope to be back in the saddle this weekend myself after an injury enforced layoff.
