Ballyreen Directions?

#1 Post by Adrian »

Any chance of someone posting some directions to this mark? I was directed to it last year by the ferryman at Doolin and I didn't end up at the place in the SAI meet pictures, I suspect I was a bit further north. :(
There are no directions in the shore mark description, before anyone directs me there.

Head west (ok south then!!) from fanore village- about 2 miles (i think!!) on there are numbers on the cliff wall beside the road. They are markers for competitions. Park the car and over the wall. be carefull

do you mean head south? I actually did try along there as well I remember seeing the numbers, there was an awful lot of weed there at the time so after loosing a couple or rigs after a very short stint I gave up.

Adrian,

South is more accurate. After driving a couple of miles there are a couple of places to pull in on the left hand side as you drive from Fanore. I think you should pull in at the second or third one. Head west through the field and then treck north along the cliff edge until you come to the rope where you can climb down the remaining 6-8ft. Keep on the lookout for white marknings for directions to the rope.

There is another ballyreen mark where you pull in before this again with numbers on the rocks and you don't have swing down rope to get there:-). Saying that from I'm told the more northerly mark is better.

I think this is where i was. Thanks for the directions, don't know when I'll get down that way again, but at least I'll know where to go next time.
