Sligo sea trout sessions
Duration 3 hrs Saturday, 3 hrs Monday
Tide ebb
Weather breezy and humid
Bait Sandeel and freshly caught mackeral
Rigs various
Results
Turbot, flounder, sea trout, bass, dogs
Tried a local beach saturday evening for a few sea trout. Armed myself with a few tope traces as well as my last session here was cut short when they made short work of all my traces. First cast into the surf resulted in a nice turbot, an undersize turbot and a sea trout. Continued that way for the next few hours with doubles or trebles most casts mostly turbot averaging around 1lb and trout from 1 to 2 lb with the odd flounder mixed in. Right on dusk a nice slack line bite at distance resulted in my three hook clipped being reduced to a one hook, minus lead and all. The wire traces went out but just resulted in dogs every cast so I reverted to plan A and went back to fishing in the surf. The dogs had moved in here also though and apart from a small schoolie that was it. Had packed everything up when I wound in my last cast which had a double dog and a 5 and half pound sea trout!
Returned on Monday night and a similar story although the quality was a bit down on Saturday. Was hoping for a few bass as the surf was good and I thought the dogs might stay away but they were as busy as ever.

Re: Sligo sea trout sessions
Well done thats a great haul. That's a cracker of a sea trout. I haven't had a turbot this year hope to try for one next even the small one would do. Do you find the beach marks fish better for tope at low tide. I have a south Sligo mark that I'm going to try and I've been told that low tide is best.
Cheers

Great fishing, when its action all the way, it doesn't happen that often.
