Wexford Bass again PB 26.07.10
People:Just Me
Duration: 5-9pm
Tide:Rising
Weather:Fantastic warm and calm
Bait:lures
Rigs:
Results: 2x Bass 8lb and 5lb
Report: Went down to the favourite mark and couldn't believe the conditions everything was perfect so positive thoughts where flowing. The place was alive with sandeel and every so often you would see them scatter obviously something after them. I fished into the scatters for a while and only had one bass look at the lure. Decided that with all the sandeel about the fish where probably stuffed to the gills. I moved down to a rocky outcrop where I seen a bass just swiming on the top of the water. I threw everything at him but no joy. The sandeel where attacking the lure so I knew it must be looking good to the fish. Then I had a bass follow me right in twice. I then got the 5lber and after a great scrap he went back. Twenty minutes later I seen a lot of action around a rock, one bass actually swam over the rock under 5inches of water chasing a sandeel. Had more follows and missed a couple. Then I took one off the top of the water and this was the big one. Great fight from him and didn't think he was a PB until I got him onto land and seen the thickness of him. Tipped the scales at 8lb so he then went into the revival pool. The bigger ones seem to go into a trance for a while you would think they are dead, so it was handy to have this pool beside me as I had no waders tonight, way to warm for them.
Had two more takes after that but missed them. Great night to be out though and I'm loving this lure fishing it's been good to me. The pics are a bit dodgy, it's tricky to use the timer on the rocks.
I did a video of the 8lber going back in not great quality though.

Superb fishing Tommy, it seems like you're on a bit of a roll at the moment with the bass,
I wish I could say the same.

Re: Wexford Bass again PB 26.07.10
Cheers all for the comments. Hope my luck keeps going as I here it's not even the peak time for lures yet
some say it gets better in August-September. Gonna give Clogherhead a go tomorrow with lures and maybe bait.
I know what you mean I'm still there
