#1 Post by fishface »

People:me ang ger

Duration:7 till 12pm

Tide:rising turned at 9

Weather:warm, very warm

Bait:crab ,lug

Rigs:pullys and flappers

Results:me 2 smuts 1 dog and a ray, ger 1 smut , 1 dog

Report:so warm that i had to strip to just trousers and shirt, first cast with a 2 hook flapper resulted in a smut the one in the photo which is to follow, then the run and weed came on and things got very quiet for a couple of hours, frances from the wee north then came along and set up down the beach in the hope of some smuts, he i suppose will put his own report up, ger dropped a few fish and was facing a blank but saved the day later on in the night(how irish is that),

Nice to meet Neil and Ger. Ended up with 5 smoothies to about 5 lb, a thornie of a couple of pounds and 2 dogs to finish the night off.
I had king rag with me which seemed to go down a treat on the night, 3 smoothies and the ray all fell to it. I'll stick up a couple of photos later.

A few fish for your efforts lads, a pleasure to be out on such a fine evening.

FMCN, glad you got a few, its a long trip down from up there, the smoothies sure do seem to have a taste for the rag down that stretch of coast at the moment.

I know its a matter of personal taste, but on saturday night both myself and saltydog were using pennel pullys, the majority of the fish caught on these rigs were got on the top hook.

I personally wouldnt fish a pully for smuts without the pennel arrangement, I dont miss many bites or drop many fish using it......it works for me
