A big thank you to Galway RNLI for coming out to get me home this evening.
Made a Pan-Pan distress call this evening out in the Bay and they came out within a few minutes and towed me back to Ballyvaughan.
Some of the things they were telling me - people with no life-jackets, radio, GPS- "what is your location? - Galway Bay - and geographical land marks -the Burren!
theyt didn't care whether i had done VHF course or not.
The Engine kept cutting out when I closed throttle and put into gear - think its the idle screw
Once again a big thank you lads

Re: Pan-Pan
Been there, its very embarrassing, but the RNLI lads are terrific and its great to know they're there.
Heard a story a while back about a half-pisst weekend sailor who got into bother in the Bristol Channel and gave the coastguard a panic-stricken shout. They asked him: "What is your current position sir?"
His reply: "I'm the managing director of a plastics firm."

Hi Cormac,
So happy to hear they got to you in time dude, and over the moon to hear the radio did its job
As a matter of interest did the radio transmit your location to the coastguard or did your have to give them the coordinates
