wexford weed fish 17-7-10

#1 Post by roger de dodger »

People:me,brendan, gordy and the golden child (were not worthy ,where not worthy)

Duration:too long

Tide:low and rising

Weather:pure crap! gale force wind and horizontal rain

Bait:rag,lug,crab,razor,mac,and sandeel

Rigs:lots

Results:flounders, codling,pout,and bass

Report:with tides a bit late in dublin/wickla a plan was hatched to head to darkest wexford so with bait dug / collected off we went on arrival at the mark weed littered the beach, bummer or what ,after an hour of pulling in weed we decided to move to a different mark that we hoped would be a bit less weedy,IT WASN’T with the tide near full we decided to soldier on as it was too late to try anywhere else.
A few small schoolies where got by Brendan and eric with myself opening my account with a few flounder,as the weather got more severe so the fishing got better but not for all of us !eric pulled 4 decent bass out of the surf in about 7 casts ,along with the 8lb of weed we all seemed to be getting every cast,Brendan got a nice codling and flounder too ,gordy was fishing but I think his new waders wouldn’t let his mojo out
The weed made things abysmal as the tide started to drop in Ernest so the whistle was blown and four very wet fellas headed up to the carpark for the long drive home after a lovely cup of tea from the silver catering inca THANKS GORDY
We had a visit from a young fox that was all but getting in the van and being adopted by eric ,I don’t leave rubbish on the beach but do throw my leftover bait in ,I don’t think any fish got a sniff of it last night the fox was only short of sitting at heel while I sorted out my gear

Fair play for sticking it out, it was tough going. I was out myself, don't want to say where it was but it rhymes with malin moulart :) Could'nt handle either the wind or the reflection of the yellow eyes watching me from the dunes behind (cousins of your cheeky fella). Don't think the whiskey hangover was helping. Packed up after 2 casts and headed for the long drive to the bed.

Great fishing lads. Yeh the weed is nasty at the moment. Fair play on soldiering through.
