wickla ,caught on the 4 of july

People:two ould lads

Duration:10.30 pm till 4 am :shock:

Tide:full at 3.30

Weather:warm and breezey, south westerly

Bait:rag lug and crab

Rigs:flapps and pullys

Results:15 dogs :twisted: two flounder and 2 smoothies




Report:even though i had no bait exept a few frozen crab that had passed away prior to freezing gordy promised to pick up some fresh rag and lug and do driving duties on a late session ,we arived and set up and had fish every second cast (dogs dogs dogs!)at about 2am the bites doggies bogged off and for 45 minutes not a bite besides one 25 cm flounder words were had and 3 am was the deadline as eyes where getting gritty(yaaaawn)was nodding off when a cry came from the dark YES .gordy,s new pb smoothy was landed change of rig and a fresh (not too gank) crab flew out on my distance rod,15 minutes later and a good scrap and out of the deep came my best smoothy so far this year 8)penn slammer well tested :D we hung on for another hour and packed up just as day was breaking,boy did i sleep well only up now (11.30) :mrgreen:

Well done to the ould fellas. They say that the older you get the less sleep you need. Did you put the hounds on the scales?

yes 2.5lb for gordy and no for mine i,d day about 5 lb smoothies are very light for their size and length :| but they make up for it in the fight 8) gordy thought he had a 6 lb bass on :lol:

Well done lads, nice fish! I packed it in about 1 am after a couple of flounder + dogs, oh and a hermit crab.

this weekends tides are a bit nicer for us oul fellas :) can't wait.
species 2009, whiting :(, three beard rockling,.shore rockling, 5 beard rockling, flounder, lesser spotted dogfish,bullhuss, dab,bass(13), more whiting : pollock,poorcod,pouting, sea trout(the dodder!)brown trout,sea scorpion,mackerel, silver eel,
topknot:), cod, conger, corkwing wrasse,smooth hound.
