sligo beach mark 29/30.06.2010

#1 Post by saving private brian »

People; myself and grady

Duration; 21.00pm-04.00 am

Tide; falling lw @ 02.40am

Bait; lugs,macks,sandeels and mussels

Rigs; 3 hook flappers,2 hook flappers

Weather; flat calm and warm

Resuts; myself; seatrout(2) flounders.tons of dogs.mackerel(1 from the beach)
grady ; flounders.tons of dogs and 1 mackerel from the beach

Report got a text from grady on monday to see if i was free for a session and we both agreed tuesday evening wud suit best as the weather was forecasted to break wednesday.arrived at the mark at 20.30 to find grady in the distance digging his bait.after walkin over to him and introducing myself we headed straight to our motors, got out our gear and started fishing for 21.00pm.the beach had a nice few on it and we chatted for about half an hour wen grady reminded me that my line was slack.i was too busy looking at all the beautiful ladies pass by .lol.so i started to reel in and brought in a seatrout to the weight of 1,1/4 lb.awe well blank saved.baited again and set the rod in the tripod and headed over to grady 4 another chat.wer chatted there for 20 mins when we both caught with our eyes which was my rod had taken a good strike and nearly out of the tripod.ran over and reeled in another seatrout to the weight of 2 lb.i cud see gradys face and we wasnt happy :D .next gardy reeled in a wee flounder so he was happy his blank saved. i pulled in next to wat i tought was another seatrout but it was a mackerel.never got 1 from the beach before.as the dark came we both got a couple of flounders each and small they were.we both filled a fishbox of sanddogs the dirty things. .as walkin through the water at the butt of the shore i found a lot of little fast fish swimming around.i think they were sprat.we started to pack up around 4 and on the last cast grady reeled in his mackerel.both mackerel were fine size and the colour of a horse mackerel but a bit lighter in colour.we were both happy enough at our little session so we shook hands and headed for home. i nearly didnt make home due to a reindeer nearly ending up on me bonit on the dual carraige way outside sligo. i thought rudolph went home at xmas:mrgreen:

Nice fishing lads. I've never had a doggie off that beach and I've never heard of a mack caught on it so fair play to ya's. We fished 2 weeks ago and the weed was a nightmare but on it's day it can produce some cracking fish.

Nice report and good pix Brian, you seem to be making a bit of career out of the seatrout all right. :D

4am tho, that's commitment, did it get dark at all or just a bit dull?
