Homeopathy point 25-06-2010

#1 Post by evan699 »

People: me and dave
Mark: Homeopathy point
Time: 16.30 - 19.30
Bait: Mack, Squid and Sand eel
Rigs: Pulley pennels, running ledgers and long and lows
Results: Me: one bull huss and one doggie
Dave: one bull huss and one doggie

I picked up dave around lunch time on friday and hit the road. We had to make a bait stop on the way and the sat nav gave us the run around so we were a bit later arriving than we were hoping. We were planning an overnight session but we left in such a hurry we didn't bother packing rain gear, food or nearly enough tackle. We stopped off at dromagowlane house and met paul harris for some fresh mack and a few other bits, and most important a bit of local knowlege. Gent of a man and i'll be back down to him in two weeks again. He gave us a few tips on fishing the mark and off we went. The target species here was huss, doggies, ray and the chance of the odd wrasse. We set up a distance rod and spinning rod each and started fishing. I was first off the mark with a doggie soon followed by dave. We both lost a few fish on the running ledgers so we switched to beefed up pulley rigs as the ground we were fishing was pretty hungry. I got a strong bite and struck into something good and wound like hell to keep it up out of the weed. As soon as i saw the head come to the surface about 20 yards out i knew i was into my first huss. I scampered down the rocks to make sure of a clean landing. Fine fish and after a few pics he went back. Great stuff, new species and another one off the wish list. Dave was next to get into something with a bit of weight on it and he landed his first ever huss aswell, and his largest ever fish. The rain came in around us soon after so we packed up the car and headed off drenched through to our bones, but plans were soon hatched to make another trip to the beara in 2 weeks. Thanks to paul for the supply of quality bait and for pointing us to a good mark.

I can't remember the real name for the place. It's known by anglers as homeopathy point because there's a big yellow sign saying "Homeopathy" on the main road where you turn off, pointing in the direction of the mark.

Great session alright john. Would have loved to have stayed for the night session but with the weather it wasn't to be. We'll pack the rain gear and more supplies next time and hopefully have better results.
