petzl ultra headlamp

At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

check out the silva alpha range.. brilliant bit of kit. the alpha's are a higher spec than the petzl ultra's.. both great bits of kit regardless

ive seen posts about these on another forum. anyone thats used them cant believe the light from them but theres meant to be a downside......they eat batteries. seen that a few people have converted them to 2 aa batteries instead of the 3aaa's and reckon it makes a huge difference.
also, they dont tend to last very long, maybe 6/7 sessions depending on weather but for less than a tenner delivered could you complain?? buy 5 with combined postage and you'd probably get them for less than €20 delivered.

thanks for the link,I got the light yesterday in the post and tried it out last night and I am very impressed with it,great beam of light from it for distance work and great flood for the close in work, plenty of light for any type of fishing and just think you could by 40 of these for the price of a petzl ultra
if anyone else is thinking of buying one the photo below compares the cree on the flood to a energizer head lamp, both have new batteries,it will give you a idea of the light from it

it says they are Water-Resistant but looking at the lamp I think I will tape around the battery compartment clips just in case, everything else looks fine

Nice ne Gerry.
Got in another few meself.
I doubt that they would stand up to the worst that Irish weather has to throw but at €7.50 including postage you can't go wrong.
Viz Top Tip, Don't shine it at a street sign if there is oncoming traffic as I nearly caused an accident when out Fly Fishing the other night
