Co. Sligo Lure & Bait Session 22 - June - 2010

#1 Post by FisherKing »

People: Me & John

Duration: 3 Hours

Tide: Stranding & Filling

Weather: Overcast with Light Souterly

Bait: Limpet & Spinner

Results: Myself : Two Ballan Wrasse, Four Pollock, John : Three Pollock

Report:

With a couple of hours to spare on Tuesday I thought no better way to spend than a spinning session, conditions were perfect overcast with a light southerly wind.
Packed the gear in the car & twenty minutes later was at the mark, John was already there fishing having lost one fish.
It was very slow :( we must have walked nearly a mile trying different rocks but no joy  so plan B was to head back to the first spot & give the wrasse a shot. Arrived back & baited up with a few small limpets, bites were slow at first but then came quicker as the tide flooded, missed a few but landed two, biggest just over 2.5lb :D.
Went back to the spinning after a an hour & was into a nice wee Pollock of a 1.5lb followed by three better fish, biggest just under 5lb :D which gave a great scrap on the light gear, John who was spinning twenty yards down from me had hooked & landed two fish to 5lb & a smaller one. All fish realised apart from two which were badly hooked, which went down a treat for the dinner  !!

Nice fishing lads. They're some cracking pollack. I fished that mark twice this year and have got a nice pollack both times there seems to be loads of them about there. I must try it for the wrasse some evening. Well done again.

Cheers
