spiddal area co galway 26th june 2010

#1 Post by gfkelly1969 »

People:myself

Duration:18:00 to 22:30

Tide:high 18:04 4.8m

Weather:showers and strong wind

Bait:feathers,mackerel and sandeel

Rigs:feathers and 3 hook flapper

Results:1 pollack,2 coalfish

Report:arrived at the pier to see young lads diving off the top wall of the pier so had to look for a different mark, headed off to a rock mark I fished before but the swell was too high to fish it so I headed back to the pier and waited for the lads to finished

after a bit of a wait I got to the end of the pier and cast out 2 rods with sandeel and mackerel the bait was coming back untouched every time

i was joined by a load of different anglers during the session and every one was asking about mackerel, they all had a few cast and crossed my lines loads of times  and nearly got my ears pierced a few times as well, its time to avoid the pier until the mackerel go out again

things didn't look good when a hungry looking bertie landed on the pier

and after I fed him most of my bait I had a few casts for mackerel as well but no bites so I put on a set of mini feathers on and got 2 small coalfish to save the blank

on my way home I stopped to have a few cast at the rock mark I looked at earlier and caught 1 pollack
