west galway new mark

#1 Post by husshunter »

People:myself son

Duration:1 hour

Tide:incoming

Weather:wind blowing

Bait:lug mack razor

Rigs:2 hook clited 3 hook flappers

Results:1 plaice 1 turbot

Report:Promised my son to bring him fishing so got the fork and headed down to a spot to get a few lug flatties were the desired target.Had plenty for a small session after a half an hour digging,so i told the young fella we would get an ice cream and go exploring to find a special new spot.Drove down a road not too far from the bait spot and it looked awful rocky. We got out anyways got rods and decided to go for a wander .Found a little piece of sand sandwitched between 2 rocky headlands no more than 10 meters of beach.Set up base camp and threw out a flapper ,wind was picking up and throwing up a lot of weed .I brought it in after 15 minutes to see a fine plaice of 34cm, :) nice start .Too much weed to put it back there so decided to put on a 2 hook clipped and whack it out mack on one hook and mack and razor on the other, put the rod on the tripod and went messing about in the water with the young fella .The wind really picked up and he was getting cold so decided to pack it in .I struck and felt a bit of weight and something pulling back, happy days ray i was thinking .I got it to the waters edge to reveal a fine turbot of 39 cm my pb turbo by a long shot.Packed up made the way back to the car thinking of what else might be there,2 casts 2 fine fish what lies in store for me on my return tomorrow?

2 solid fish there - to think lads would be driving for 2 hours to a turbot mark or the east coast for plaice - madness
