caught this little beauty while on a wee trip south i lost one about 30 minutes before because i was using 10lbs snoods, so i upped it to 25lbs.. just as well because there was quite a lift up to get it out of the water..
apparently 1oz shy of the current suspended irish record.. (so i take it its a specimen fish )

Beautiful fish. Big well done. I fished that spot a few times, only caught a few small pollack and the biggest spider crab i've ever seen. What side of the road were you casting off? To the right or left of that photo? Cheers

the current suspended irish record is 18lbs and a specimen would have to be 14lbs. your fish is male which tend to be the smaller fish, yours dont look to be that big did you weigh it on a propper scales are you sure you are not mixing your record homelyn and undulate weights up because it looks more to 8lb than 18lb
weighed with digital scales 3 times, because i didn't actually believe it was right the first time, i didn't even know what the record was until the next day so it want as if i was making the number up to look good, and it was only yesterday evening i found out that the specimen weight is 14lbs, and why would i bother lie about any of this??? its wings are slightly curled in too so it does look a bit smaller, but it was a heavy fish as you can see by the look on my face..
i even checked my scales yesterday too with a few measured weights and it was bang on, so i'm not doubting my scales..
