Very basic help required.

#1 Post by mikewest »

I think this may be the best place to post this. I have almost no experience or knowledge of fishing but I would like my kids to know something about it as they grow up. Is there a recommendation of a site or book for basic fishing instructions e.g. gear, bait for particular fish, proper knots and how to set up all the kit? I think I need the remedial class.

go to this link - then there are separate links for all the basics about bait species marks etc.

Try find out where the nearest club is, and get a few names of anglers that wouldn't mind you tagging along, you can learn only so much from a book, but you'll learn do much more and faster if you are shown what to do.

Just go to your local tackle shop and start from there. Then get out and do a bit of fishing. You will be amazed at how quickly the basics will come to you. As for books, drop into your local book shop and they will probably have at least one book worth a look. Good luck.

Ok, so i have owned loads of books on fishing, and if your not looking for something sea fishing specific, i would recommend this book, its excellent:click here

If it is necessary for it to be sea fishing specific, then the one Kaner recommended is also quite good
