screeming reels cork 15th june 2010

#1 Post by screeming reels »

People: myself

Duration:12 hours

Tide:high low high

Weather:fantastic,

Bait:rag, lug , mack, crab

Rigs: spreader bars, sabikis, shrimp rig, float rig

Results:Golden grey mullett, thick lip mullett, Sand Smelt, LSD's, codling, whiting, poor, cod, grey gurnard, tompot blenny, black gobys, dabs, pollock, launce, mackerel, ballan wrasse.

Report:Headed out today on a hunt for a few new marks, firstly had to get some fresh bait, and as is usual at present, hard to find close in, so headed past smiths, and in deep water they were plentiful, and some corkers too , one touching 2.0lbs!
with enough bai, headed back into the harbour for a bit of mullrt bashing , and had a nice session picking up Golden Greys and Thick lipped , i also manged to pick up a new species for me , a Sand Smelt.
Main focus of the day was to find a productive thorny mark, but apart from battersea dogs home, not a lot showing.
A busy day with not too much to show, but many things learnt, anyway, Long may this weather continue :) :)

Float fished maddies, and small mack strips, be prepared to be very frustrated!!!
anywhere near the fuel terminal or where you see them surface feeding
