Guys, Im looking for a new spinning rod for light boat use, generally pollock and other small species, although I have had a few decent ling on it in the past! I had the Shakespeare Ugly Stik Lite Spin 8ft until it got broken! (Not by fishing of course!) This was paired with a shimano baitrunner aero gte-b 8000 loaded with 12lb braid.
I'm contemplating getting a new one but Im just interested on what else is available in a similar class, or what anyone else uses?
Cheers
Mark

Re: New spinning rod for the boat?
markj something very strong (if that's what you're after) a ron thompson Hardcore II spinning rod.7 or 8 foot two piece should run you £25 ish sterling.Slightly thicker than an ugly stik but very strong and similar in build with the glass tip.I have them right up to 10ft heavy and they cover me for all fishing that I do.The 7ft is great for leadheading off the boat. Two years so far and still going strong.
