Had a couple of days holidays away in Wexford with the girlfriend, so of course some fishing had to be done. If looks could kill.....when she came to pick me up and I was standing there, with 3 rods, a tripod, the fishing box and assorted accessories! After much puppy dog face making the gear was in the car and off to the sunny south east.
Was staying in Court Town so after a poor round of crazy golf in Pirates Cove hit Court Town Angling Centre, as usual blown away by the friendliness and local info offered, top lads. Was told to try a spot in Ballymoney but being from Dublin, I decided to ignore this and head straight to the Harbor entrance at Court Town. 2 rods out, 2 hook flappers with lug, few missed bites, lads on other pier were catching plenty of dogs, so I decided to bait up with sand eel, had 5 dogs after that, blank saved anyway. Was out about 4 hours.
Time must pass quicker in Wexford because I don't know where it went, checked the time, it was 10.30 and I had promised said girlfriend I would take her out for dinner, we were on holidays after all!
I almost fell victim to death by dirty looks again but I bluffed my way out of it saying I knew a place open late in Gorey (I did not). So quick wash of the "don't touch me with those filthy hands" and foot down to Gorey. I had a cunning plan of hoping, praying infact somewhere was open. The RNLI are not the only lifesavers anglers require, thankfully I spotted an open sign at a restaurant Casapepe. Night rescued had a fantastic meal, Anyone in the Gorey area give this place a try!
Managed to get out for another couple of hours on Friday, went to the mark on the beach in Ballymoney, 2 hook flappers with lug, Straight into a double of flounder, then flounders a cast pretty much, had a double of a dog and a flounder, never caught a dog on lug before, the colour of the dog was interesting, it was a really pale grey, white almost, used to much darker brown ones in Dublin. Only fished about an hour and a half if even and had the dog and 9 flounder none of great size really. I don't generally like fishing on the beach but an enjoyable short session.
Must get out to Wexford more often, the only disappointment is that the Beacon is no more!

That grey dog sounds funny. Did you get a pic of it by any chance?

No camera with me and phone was dead unfortunately, but the penny has just dropped! Just looking at the smooth hound reports, never caught one before and didn't take much of a look at it, unhooked and threw it back, so on second thoughts that's probably what I caught!

Nice sessions Cormdog; might head down that direction myself after reading that--it's not too far from where I am.
Any chance you could spread the love on the flattie hook removing trick? Had to send a few back recently with the hook still in, which I don't like. Cheers!
