Funny enough, I was plagued with them last year, but I don't think there was as many around this winter. I think there was more codling around this year(albeit mostly very small fish) than there was last year. I dunno, a fish breeding cycle thing maybe? Generally speaking, Whiting tend to be more common during the winter months.

I deffinatly had more codling than whiting this year, they were thin on the ground all through the winter on the east coast.

Whiting get very scarce from the shore when the weather heats up, Sep- March seem the best months for them.

Keep the post about whiting please gents!!

I've heard there were good sized whiting (up to 2lb) caught around Loop Head yesterday, promising outlook for the next week if you are planning a trip to the area :)
