Ebb tide fishing

Hi All,
According to knowledge and information I managed to gather during past years fishing in Ireland I’m usually fishing from shore at the time when tide turns and during flood tide.

Was wondering if anyone of ye has any experience fishing while tide is dropping? Are you of the same opinion that fishing at that time is not so good? Or may be some features of marks can ensure good fishing on ebb?

hi tommy if i was to have my choice of tide to fish it would be last 2 hours of the ebb always found it way more productive but thats just my opinion ,always liked the first hour of the flood aswell

i always like to fish an incoming tide as it seams to be more productive, but on some marks it can be the opposite, on our recent turbot hunt over two sessions the best fishing was when the tide was dropping, and fishing slowed up when the tide started to rise. so its a good idea to try different stages of the tide on your mark, to see witch gives you the best results

the beach where i do most of my Bass fishing is best about 1.5-2hours before and after low water. if theres a good surf running you can get them at any stage of the tide but i always seem to have more bites near in and around low water.

i spoke to other anglers to used to fish the beach a lot and they reckoned it didnt make any difference when you fished it if the conditions were right so it could just be me being superstitous after a few good nights at LW

It really is a case of venue.

It's usually features that hold fish. Check out a few beaches at low water on a very big tide and see if there are features present - if so, its definately worth a go on an ebbing tide and into the flood.

Depends on the venue as mentioned. In my opinion beaches near me seem to flatten out by low tide. I fish in area with very little surf most of the time to when the beach flattens out the surf picks up a tiny bit which i find helps. I like to fish 2 hours before and after LW. Depends what your fishing for too. On other venues i fish around lw as some channels i know find fish can be reached with a 140 yard cast at lw but at hw you would have to be putting a bait about the 220 yard mark which i admit im not superman and cant to haha
Really depends what your after and where your fishing to be honest!
