Orkney Strikeliner 16ft
Hi Lads I owned a Warrior 165 two years ago but never really got the use out of it and she cost me 13000 euro. Now two years on and after doing a few charter boats I'm thinking of getting a Orkney Strikeliner for around the 7000-8000 mark any use this boat and would you recommend it.

Hi Cluais. As it happens I'm considering buying my first boat and am unsure what to go for..
I would be very grateful for any info you could give me on the 165 and why did you part with it
Also why change to an Orkney

Re: Orkney Strikeliner 16ft
The only reason I want to change is that I've had the warrior but would like somthing different, also the money side of things the warrior is more expensive it's great if you're going to go out most weekends ect but I didn't so it was a waste of money for me.
If I bought the strikliner I know now I would only be able to get out twice a month so that's Why I will only spend about 6000
If you plan on doing a lot of fishing in my opinion the best 16ft boat is the warrior...

Re: Orkney Strikeliner 16ft
Would the Warrior be a faster boat than the Orkney
Obviously would depend on the engine, but all things being equal would the hull of the Warrior allow it to cut the water better

My Strikeliner could do 23kts with a cuddy & family aboard running on a 30hp Mariner.

Thats about the most you will get out of a strikeliner. Its only rated to 30hp anyway. Cruising speed is mid teens for me, top is low 20s
