5/may/10 galway

#1 Post by chrisfeeney30 »

People:myself, eointarmey and kaylemf

Duration:3 hours ish

Tide:hw about 11

Weather:ENE wind

Bait:mack squid

Rigs:flappers/4/0 pennal pullys

Results:kaylem:
:Eoin: 1 doggie
:myself: 2 codling, 1 doggie

Report: Decided to go for a session after a day o study and exams so called eoin and we were on our way. Greeted with an easterly wind with a flat calm sea, compleatly clear water. Expectations wernt too high but we just hoped to get a fish or two. I decided to put massive baits out far and then use a rod for a bit of scratching. Kaylem and eoin just opted for a bit of scratching. I was first in on the action pulling out a codling of 24 cms. Pretty good condition and nice and plump. Blank saved :) Then i got a small knock on the rod with the big bait. Struck and could feel thump thump then it went light :( . Reeled it in and the hooks were gone. 50 lbs snood bitten through. Il be back for that fish later in the week hopefully! I then got a doggie and codling double. Codling was 24 cms again but this time it was one of those kelp living ones, really red. Looked like a compleatly differant fish then the codling earlier. Eoin was next in on the action, he got a nice bite and brought in a lively doggie. All in all it was a good night, nice to get out as always!

that's good going with the wind you had against you and clear water doesn't make fishing easy. and as for the line I'm sure it wont get away next time. well done again.
