Sligo Turbot session

#1 Post by Kerryman »

People Me

Duration 4 hours

Tide either side of LW

Weather North wind, cool but sunny, nice surf

Bait sandeel and Mack

Rigs mostly flappers

Results over 40 flounders, 15 turbot and 3 sea trout

Hit a local beach to target a few turbot. Started well with a double turbot and a 2 lb sea trout. Sea trout was gut hooked so was tagged and kept. After that the flounders took over completely with trebles averaging 30 cm pretty much every cast until LW, all on fish baits. Picked up some more turbot over LW before the flounders returned with a vengence on the flood. Picked up 2 more sea trout in the middle of it all both about 1.5 lb. The turbot averaged around 25 cm, the biggest was 32. Most flounders I think I have ever had from a surf beach.

Nice fishing. Thats the best Sligo flattie session I've ever heard of. Can't seem to connect with any flatties at the minute but we're still getting a few trout so I'm not complaining. Well done.
