little fish for the little lad

#1 Post by yorkshire man »

Taking the my little lad out for his first trip on Wednesday afternoon just to a local pier any tips to keep him interested.
He's been asking to go for the last 6 months but don't think he would enjoy the beach at 2am in a gale !!

Usually can;t go wrong with some ragworm, small hooks, down the side of the pier, he'll get small fish, but they are what we all got hooked on(please excuse the pun)....

what about taking him up to the pontoon in mullaghmore - no dangers from big swells - shelter from wind - and throw on size 4s and get him some minis and hes hooked

you might get one or 2 yourself if your lucky

Had mullagmore in mind just of the breakwater not the seaward side, pontoon is to risky hes daft enough to jump in, made a few two hook flappers with size 4 hooks got a few lug left from the weekend and some mac. I'll let you know how he gets on i might take a conger rod with me see if i can catch the resident conger.
think the lad would be a bit scared if i dragged it up it weighted about 8lb last summer so it should have put a bit of weight on by know. i just hope he likes it and we can go more come the summer
Cheers for the reply's will post a report after
Mike

Bring a little handline, get a bit of barnacle or even a bit of mackeral if you are using it and let him pass the time with the crabs, never fails!!
A bad days fishing is better than a good day at work.
