At the suggestion of various members and given the magazines will run a mile from criticising a piece of kit, here is your chance to tell us what you really think about a rod, reel, line, lure... keep it legal please!

Just shore, from rocks etc. I haven't really done much fishing before but am interested in taking it up. Looking for basic rod and reel to target mackeral and pollock.

Cheers,
Tom

if your looking for something that wont break the bank have a look at the ugly stik lite rods and a shimano egage reel. should get the pair for about €110/120. the rod is pretty much unbreakable. had a 5lb pollack on it last year and the rod was nearly doubled over when the fish was at my feet, mighty craic.

iirc, there's a Shimano Catana going for €35 in the "For Sale/Wanted" forum. Excellent rod.
