Well done to Dave Roe on winning the Inaugural wexford summer league he fished very well through out this series of matches and won a least two that I know of.donal domeney wrote:Any one got the results of this competition?
Hope this continues every year because it's a great event fished around the hot beaches that are fishing well at the time, i know a lot of prefishing and work goes into these competitions to get everything right, and it pays off!!
A little better support from anglers would be appreciated I know it's the holiday season but come on lads it was a 100% pay out.
Kstaff has always been the new black in my eyes anyway!!!!!!!

Just to make a point and its one thats raised its head this past couple of years particularly in the East and South of the country. 30 quid entry fee to fish a match on a beach, even with a 100% payout is excessive. Add to that the no bait restriction meaning that a larger degree of effort has to go into preparation in order to come anywhere near a prize is not going to get bums on seats at this time. I appreciate that sponsorship is hard to come by and its difficult to arrange worthwhile prize funds without some source of income ie entry fees but still, 30 quid to stand on a beach is expensive. Not having a go in the slightest, I totally understand how this has come about, Im just offering feedback to what Paul alluded to about lack of support is all.
Oh, and well done Dave...

I understand your point totally Pete! These round of competitions were organized to fill the huge gap that has existed on the Federation calendar for years between mid June to the end of august for the avid match angler. A lot of lads as you know travel the lenght and breath of the country chasing Penn points and have to endure a lot of expenses, so when and if they win they like to be rewarded with a reasonable cash prize.
It's not really that expensive considering other competitions around the country charge just as much and you only get a 50% payout might I also stress that some clubs are better than others as to the % paid out.
Okay you might have to pay for bait but don't we all in a roundabout sort of way?? IE: petrol, time, holidays from work, sleep, stress, energy, time missing from family and equipment for digging bait.
But there is one thing that i cant understand and it's in the physic of every angler in the country is why we don't support each others competitions we are in a race to the bottom with dwindling numbers and it's up to lads to support every competition in their local area to survive.
Leinster League competitions are €25 entry with €5 longest fish pool so with the federation taking a cut out and the club taking a cut which would be better value
