The Graveyard, Co Down 18/04/10

#1 Post by Drew »

People: Dan and I

Duration: 7.45pm - 9.15pm

Tide: Low onto Push

Weather: Nice!

Bait: Lugworm

Rigs: 2 Hook Flapper, 2up1Down

Results: 2 Codling

Report:

Considering Donaghadee is out of action we've had to do some exploring lately, and I'm happy we have, we've found marks that we always knew looked fishy and this one was no exception. Started off at dead low water, and as soon as the sun had retreated and the lights went out Dan got a Codling, so we knew there were fish there.

The mark is sand, surrounded by kelp and big stones, so there's plenty of feeding for the fish as well as hug lug beds which are always a plus!

I walloped a bait out, and was soon getting rattles, Missed the first bite and wound in to find 2 hooks stripped, so back on with more lug and another big overhead thump, went to help Dan for a minute and as I arrived with him I turned to see my Penn nodding away merrily, so I ran back and watched for a few more moments, the rod was still moving so I guessed it had hooked itself. Wound in to find a little 20cm Codling had snaffled the bottom bait.

After that Dan got a call and we had to head home, But definitely a mark we'll be back to!

Nice one finding the new mark Drew, even better when you pull in a few fish.
