People:myself and ruxt

Duration:19.00 - 23.00

Tide:falling

Weather:lovely

Bait:crab

Rigs:flappers

Results:me 6 painted ray 8 codling 1 flounder 1 pin whiteing - ruxt 1 painted ray 26 codling




Report: headed off with the intention of catching a few ray and for a change we actually caught a few.set up and fishing at about seven, ruxt was first in with a ray of 4.25lb on his second cast.his next cast found a codling and that was the end of his ray fishing because every cast for the rest of the night the codling found his bait long before any ray had a chance to get at it his biggest codling was 1.5lb.i took a bit longer to get off the mark didnt find the fish till about half eight.my first fish of the night was a ray under 45cm every cast after that found the fish another four ray under 45cm and one over weighing in at 4.36lb 8 codling all under 38cm a flounder 36cm and a pin whiteing at the end for good measure.pics arent the greatest taken on the phone

Wow! That's some haul of fish. Here's hoping that if the Ray are in east Cork, they won't be shy about making their way over to me in west Waterford ...

cheers james doubt youl be waiting much longer i was with those 5 lads fishing next to ya on a west waterford beach last week did ya get anything after we left

Well done John, that's a fine haul of painted ray for this time of the year - local knowledge makes all the difference, aswell as local crabs :wink: .

Well done on the painted ray - you had better fishing than I did over the weekend in the search for the ellusive bass.
Are the codling ever going to leave :roll:

Lovely fishing john. That's some result. There'll be no crab left for the customers but who gives a f**k when the fishing's that good. 8)
