Re: 7HT mag
Hi Mate,
I recently got a 7ht mag and have used it a few times and I love it, I wont be using 6500's anymore much prefer the 7ht but like I said haven't had it long so going on my first impressions.

have one warren, very nice reel. clean beach reel but as you said very smooth. I love the 6500s too though but the 7ht mag is very nice. If your around this way you can have a go with it no bother

Re: 7HT mag
best reels i own, i found one not so long ago on a beach, next to a rock, by the look of it, it had been there for a while. got home stripped it, replaced nothing, just a drop of oil 'n' grease, washed the sand out etc... and now its the best casting reel i own, even better than the new 7ht mags i bought. ok it looks like a blind cobbler's thumb but if that aint the deffinition of hard as nail i don't know what is. try this with an abu

Re: 7HT mag
I'm still struggling with mine, particularly on the shorter casts. The mags dont kick in at all on a gentle lob and if I forget to "thumb" it then there's usually a horrible mess. I still use my old 7HT and it's much more forgiving. Guess which one I use when flounder fishing.

Re: 7HT mag
i take back what i said about it, only got mine at xmas and 3 days ago, out of the blue it stopped engaging. Now i cant seem to use it! Iv always taken good care of it so i know its not something i did. Anyone else have this problem? Its really annoying me cause i paid 170 pounds for it 4 months ago!!!

I would never think of using a multiplier for short distance work... I did see a fella in the sea angler fishing for flounder using a beast of a rod and a 7ht mag low down on the rod with a rig baited up with lug, white rag and then tipped off with maddies.. makes no sense at all...
I prefer a small 8000 sized fixed spool for short distance work... its a nightmare for me trying to play a decent fish while trying to thumb line onto the spool and reel in with the other hand...

Re: 7HT mag
i just bought oen recently and there does seem to be a few niggles with them,
for fishing i use the 7ht range but im an abu man for casting.
I never had any bother over 20 years usage with the original 7hts so lets hope the mags are as good
