No fishing zone, Dalkey Islands??

#1 Post by Strangefruit »

I have heard a whisper that there is now a 100 metre no fish zone all around Dalkey Island for conservation.

Has anyone else heard about this and if so does this include all the islands and Muglins?

If it is true a third of the sound would be out of bounds too :?

I dont know about the island, but there is a limit around the 40 foot there are 3 new bouys that a boat cant go inside.having said that there are lobster pots inside the bouys so i dont think them boys care too much  i was fishing around the island on sunday and didnt see any new bouys.whatever about swiming areas fair enough, but the island should be for all to enjoy .i know it wont stop me from fishing around it

really dont understand the previous comment,a restriction is put there as a conservation measure yet "it wont stop me fishing" thats the problem ,thats why our fishing is getting poorer and poorer .

Anybody know specifically what is being conserved? 100m seems awful small in the context of fish.
