Hi,
Could anyone tell me If I can use a big pit carp reel for fixed spool beach fishing or will the salt water wreck it?
Thanks.

Re: Carp reels.
Yes and yes but some as always are better than others. I use a Shimano Ultegra 5500 myself Ok its not quite a big pit reel as such but I can't fault it, its a great reel. Once you rinse them off after a session and keep them oiled they should be grand, that said some reels just don't like saltwater at all. What reel were you thinking of using?

Thanks for the info Dave.
A mate gave me a daiwa emcast 5500.I,d been looking for a fixed spool spare for a while and thought this might do.
