Report: Headed up the coast for a flattie session since there seems to be plenty of the around at the minute. I arrived at the mark about 3 and got the rods in the water. The sun was shinning bright and there was no fish action for the first 3 hours. So I had to sit admiring the senery for a while in the sun . It began to cloud over a bit about 6 and as soon as it did the rod tip started to nod . I landed my first flounder of the year measuring in at 25cm. The sun popped its head out and no more fish for another while. Once it started to dull down again the fishing picked up with another couple of Flounder of the 25cm size. The next was a 28cm Flatfish which I think is a Plaice. I say it is a Plaice because the head had boney nodules and the lateral line was smooth as a babys bum,the only thing was the spots wernt as obvious. I would like to hear other peoples opinion :?:The fish in question is in the top 2 Pics. Then I got a definate Plaice of 25cm, finishing off with another couple of flounder. There was two other guys fishing to my left who were fishless and were new to Angling and came over for a chat as the day went on I gave them some rag as I wasnt going to use it all. Just as I was leaving I went over to give them the rest of my Rag and Squid and one of them had caught a nice Coalie hopefully they caught a few more after I left

My very basic knowledge would lean me on plaice for pics 1 and 2, no doubt about 3 tho. Is it right that you can also get spotty flounder?
A very well done on the flatties man, havent had a go this year at all what with work and pregnant wife holding me hostage in the house. chomping at thye bit to wet a line.
Anyone tried kilkeel pier for the flat fellas?
well done again! bet they tasted good (or were they put back)?
nice one jonny good to see you got a few man. the ridge of boney nodules behind the eyes on pic 1 & 2 would make me think plaice, just faint markings on the spots. but regardless of what it was,,,, it was a fish . one more than i saw yesterday
