west waterford 6/4/10

#1 Post by seanie35 »

People:me and gerry

Duration:7 till 2am

Tide:rising/dropping

Weather:fine

Bait:peeler crab/ lug

Rigs:flappers/ pulleys

Results:gerry 3 bass, 2 codling, 2coalies.....me 1 rockling/1 codling

Report:met up with gerry/mitch off the site for a session got the peeler of johnbhoy32 fine batch of crab  and got to the beach for lowtide. great surf after the storm the night before nothing much happening in daylight then the weed moved in so we moved 200 yards up the beach. it was dark by this stage and straight away we were into fish. gerry got his bass with 1 fish between 6 and 7lb in fine condition and the other 2 about 3lb each with a few codling in between. I missed about 3 good bass bites  over the session and thanks to some good advice from the bassmaster   ive decided to tone down my baits no more huge chunks of peeler in the surf but it didnt stop a 7 inch rockling giving me a slackliner  8)

Well done again seanie, you must be a very happy man now catching more bass. It's great to see more showing up, it took them long enough!
Although I love plugging for bass, bait fishing has to be my favourite method when fishing for them, standing on a beach holding your rod with a nice surf coming in waiting for a bass to swim along and take your bait - heaven 8)
