local west waterford beach 3rd apr 2010

Report[started at 8,nice surf,was using a 2 hook long snood flapper,lug on top and crab on bottom,short casts.i was confident of a bass (lost a nice fish night before,blasted weed fowled my line well thats the excuse)first few casts caught few coaly,at about 9.30 the rod tip took a plunge definitely not a coaly,picked up the rod retrieved the slack and connected,felt the weight taught to myself decent fish,it tried bolting to right around rocks so i bullied it back,i started walking back up the beach to avoid shock leader knot jamming the top eye with weed, (like night before)]:managed to beach it, quickly scattered down and to my delight a double hook up of two 45 cm bass twins,a first for me,well chuffed!!fished on till 2am picked up few more coaly,1 flounder,and 3 surprising codling(surprising for the beach!!)all and all not bad result considering the cold.

Always keep first couple of fish of the year,worked hard for them ,many blank cold wet windy nights :,ready to pack it in altogether bait collecting alone!!the rest i release and hope that no commercial vessels will be swallowing them up fingers crossed guys!!!!

you will get alot of that on here from the bass lovers a bass is a fish and they dont deserve anymore respect than other fish

i agree i hope they tasted great i didnt catch one last year but this year ill keep a good few as my inlaws love the tast of them . i dont really like them .

thanks for the back up shane!!new to this crack,ill get used to it! was out again last night,7-2am mad or what! no surf so no bass,very calm but managed to pull few codling,doggies,and coalys,ill be out this weekend so ill post in.
