cararoe conamara

#1 Post by lucky »

people.. myself..

bait,, lug.sandell,razor and mack..

tide. fulla at 8.42pm

weather.. not bad but turned very windy later..

re
sults.. conger and loads of crabs....

headed out to the mark around 6.30 pm.. hopeing for a couple of ray.. this mark has been good to me in the past, with my biggest ray to 16lb before.. set up to beach rods and one small boat rod for conger... and off i went.. first bite was the boat rod with a small conger.. the beach rods where very quite... the rods tips just bending over slowly, knew straight away crabs.. this place can be full of spider crabs at times.. looked like i got that time,, ever retreive was a crab stuck to the bait.. but the only thing that was interesting was the flicker of tiny star lights in the water.. these little creatures were like little green star lights never seen this before.. packed up around 11 and headed to the pub for a few nice pints.....

Good session and definitely better than a blank. The crab seemed to be missing lots of feet and a claw. Good size though.

at least the eels put a bend in the rod for ya anyway. them crabs can be aa nightmare sometimes

i read in one of the sea angling mags a while back about a guy in the uk who collects spider crabs and puts them into tanks (like you see in restaurants with lobsters) till their about to peel. he then has huge peeler baits for tope and smoothys.

nice conger lucky 8) . with all the glowing creatures it might have been worth attaching a star lite to your rig  . i've had sessions in the past when a blank was imminent, but a star lite attached to the lead seemes to get a bit of interest from the fish  always worth a go.
